About
Practice Makes PRfect is a public relations blog for communications students, PR students, consumers of mass media, pop culture enthusiasts, and anyone who wants to understand PR through examples they already recognize. The site turns pop culture discourse, brand reputation moments, celebrity apologies, campaign rollouts, crisis communication, media relations, and social media backlash into public relations case studies.
The purpose is to make public relations feel less like a list of terms to memorize and more like a way of reading the world. A celebrity apology, brand partnership, press tour, album rollout, influencer campaign, or messy public statement becomes a way to understand timing, audience, message, reputation, trust, and strategy without needing the example to come from a textbook.
The blog starts with the moments everyone is already talking about and looks for the communications problem underneath the conversation. Instead of stopping at "bad PR," each case asks what went wrong, who needed to hear what, why the timing mattered, what risks were building, and what a stronger response could have looked like.
The result is a place to see PR thinking in motion: how to move from a gut reaction to a sharper read, how to connect class concepts to real media moments, and how to make stronger recommendations when a public situation is still messy. Each post is meant to make the field feel more understandable, useful, and possible to practice.
