Hi, I'm Lucy Weiner, and I have always been interested in the moment when a story becomes bigger than the post, apology, campaign, or headline that started it.

I am a Public Relations student at Syracuse University's S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, originally from Tucson, Arizona. At Newhouse, I am learning how writing, research, audience strategy, media analysis, and client work shape the way people understand a message.

I also get to practice that work outside the classroom. Through Hill Communications, Newhouse's student-run public relations firm, I work directly with clients on communication, campaign thinking, and writing with real goals attached. As Public Relations Chair for the Pi Chapter of Phi Sigma Sigma, I help shape chapter communications and manage brand partnerships that support chapter philanthropy.

That mix of classroom work and hands-on experience changed the way I watch media. When an apology video drops, a brand collaboration fails, or a press tour becomes the whole conversation, I start thinking about the strategy underneath it: who the message was for, what the team expected people to notice, and where the response started to lose trust.

Practice Makes PRfect is where I turn that curiosity into practice. The blog gives me a place to study public moments while they are still messy, make a communications recommendation, and come back later to judge what I got right, what I missed, and what I want to learn next.
